Dr Efraim vd Walt - Botox

To diminish the effects of aging and to avoid lines, wrinkles, and lax skin from occurring on the forehead and upper face, Dr van der Waltis pleased to offer BOTOX to patients. This facial rejuvenation treatment offers amazing results and is popular among both women and men. This injectable can help prevent the deepening of dynamic facial lines, which are the result of expressions and movement with the contracting muscles on the forehead. This muscle relaxer is a purified strain of type A botulinum toxin that temporarily freezes the movements of the underlying tissue and muscle. To diminish the appearance of these static lines (fixed lines that remain when there is no facial movement) and wrinkles, BOTOX is carefully injected to relax and soften the skin. This specific injection is most commonly administered by plastic surgeon Dr. Efraim between the brows where the number “11” appears, around the eyes (Crow’s feet), and throughout the forehead.

Ideal Candidates

BOTOX injections are used for patients who hope to diminish and soften the visible look of wrinkles, lines, and moderate folds on their upper face in a nonsurgical way. BOTOX is often thought of as a preventive anti-aging treatment even if static wrinkles have not yet formed — keep in mind how often you find yourself making facial expressions. It is an effective, noninvasive solution if you have obvious forehead wrinkles or frown lines between the brows. It is also a solution for Crow’s feet around the eyes. If you experience more severe and deeper lines, a combination of BOTOX and a filler may be a better option.

Also, if you are over the age of 50 with moderate to severe skin laxity, you may be a candidate for facelift surgery. This delivers a more impactful result, and it is meant to last years. Dr Van der Walt offers various facelifts, blepharoplasties, and brow lifts as effective options.

Procedure Technique

If it is your first time to visit my office to receive BOTOX, I commonly perform the treatment within the same day as your initial consultation. You will be asked to make a few expressions using your upper face, like frowning, squinting, smiling, etc., to help us to determine where the injections are best placed. The area will be prepared and BOTOX will be injected under the skin using a fine needle. You can ask for a numbing cream to help make the procedure more comfortable, but it usually is not needed. BOTOX treatments typically take around 10 – 15 minutes, after which you may get back to your usual day with no required recovery period.

What To Expect

Following the BOTOX injection, you are allowed to return to your usual schedule, although strenuous activities, like exercise, should be postponed for a minimum of a day. You will have to avoid massaging your face, which can accidentally spread the BOTOX to other areas. The injected sections of your face can become red, bruised, or swollen for a couple of days, but you should not have any long-lasting or serious side effects. In the majority of cases, You should start seeing the effects after the third day, but it will at least be seven days before the final results of BOTOX become visible through the weakening of the muscle. The results generally last 3 – 4 months. It is advised that you will book your follow-up treatment on leaving the office; usually in about 3 month’s time.

Just Express Yourself

No more worrying! You can frown, smile, laugh, and make any face you want without seeing wrinkles and lines with BOTOX wrinkle treatments.

Injectable wrinkle relaxers (including BOTOX) and injectable wrinkle fillers (including Restylane and Juvéderm) are both procedures that diminish the appearance of wrinkles and correct fine lines. BOTOX works by relaxing overused muscles in your face that create dynamic creases and static lines, including frown lines (which appear between your eyebrows), Crow’s feet (which appear in the outer edges of your eyes), smile lines, and forehead wrinkles. Dermal fillers increase volume below the skin to correct depressions and improve fine lines throughout your face. Based on your goals, we may suggest BOTOX, fillers, or a “liquid facelift,” which combines both.

As long as it is applied correctly, BOTOX should not cause serious complications. However, it is important to choose someone with experience and training injecting BOTOX. Overinjecting BOTOX during one treatment session may give you results that are not optimal. An experienced injector will apply the right dose to safely relax the muscles causing the unwanted wrinkles without affecting nearby muscles. Quickly becoming one of the most requested cosmetic treatments, BOTOX is considered safe and has earned approval from the USA FDA (Food and Drug Administration). Along with its cosmetic uses, BOTOX can also be used as a treatment for medical issues, including excessive sweating, facial spasms, migraines, and uncontrollable blinking.
